Purpose of Observer Activity: |
The following activities will let
you see through Dr. Jane's binoculars. In these exercises, you
will learn the basics about being a keen observer, as well as
the basics about chimpanzee social behavior. Then, the next
time you visit a zoo and observe primates, you will be able
to use your new observation skills. |

Jane’s scrapbook and look for ways that she was
a good observer.
- Complete journal

- Locate Tanzania on the interactive

Survey of Chimpanzee Behavior: |

- Pretend you are in Africa looking through binoculars at
wild chimpanzees. View
video clips and make field notes.
- Conduct
a mini primate research project.
- View
the video clips of chimpanzees for second time and then
compare your notes to those of a researcher at Gombe.
- Give oral presentation.
