Jane spent long days searching for the chimpanzees through the thick forest underbrush. She always wore clothes of the same color and looked at the chimpanzees from afar through binoculars, in order not to startle them. From the Peak she began to learn more and more about chimpanzees and their way of life. Everything she saw she jotted into a little field notebook. Many days she walked and climbed all day.
