Roots: Home - Then and Now
Home - Then and Now
That same year, Jane's family moved in with her maternal grandmother. Her grandmother lived on the southern coast of England in a small town named Bournemouth located 100 miles (167 km) from London. The family named the house "The Birches" because of the three beautiful silver birches that grew there. Jane lived with her grandmother, mother, sister, and two aunts. Her uncle often visited. Dr. Jane still calls "The Birches" home.
