Pioneer: Chimp Charts
Chimp Charts
Following the advice of her professor at Cambridge, Jane adopted standardized methods in 1966. She began to record data in a more systematic way by creating big charts. She extracted data every day from journal notes and entered them on a matrix with individual chimps across the top and time down the side. She observed the arrival and departure time of each chimp at camp and social behaviors, such as aggressive interactions. Click here to view the chart.
